Dr. Cohen graduated summa cum laude from the New York Chiropractic College. Her practice has been evolving for more than 25 years and has incorporated her interests in athletics and performance enhancement. She has completed advanced education and clinical training in rehabilitation, sports medicine and functional exercise training. She is also a Certified Kinesiotaping Practitioner; incorporating the use of the same “muscle tape” for her patients as is utilized by professional athletes and Olympians.
Treatment strategy in her office is of course to reduce pain, but ultimately to improve function and provide the tools necessary for self-management and health maintenance. Much to the adage of “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” A great deal of time in her office is spent on performance evaluation and exercise prescription. Her practice includes chiropractic, muscle/soft-tissue therapy, kinesiotaping, gait analysis and postural assessment and conditioning.
In her free time, “Dr. Ruth” can be found on her horse galloping in the woods of Old Westbury and Old Brookville. She also enjoys hiking, bike riding and yoga.
